Carol Ann Ulrich (Van Tassel)
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Carol Ulrich on February 3, 2019, at age 61. Carol will be remembered for fighting cancer with amazing courage, spirit, and a smile. Carol is lovingly survived by her husband of 38 years, Kirk; children Neil (Natalie) and Brian (Bailey); grandchildren Jackson and Lucas; Sister Jill (Tom) Reiter; sister-in-law Chris (Tim) Kramer; mother-in-law Helen, and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hal (1993) and Phyllis (2017). Carol was born on April 6th, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio and married Kirk in November of 1980. Together they raised 2 children - her pride and joy. Growing up in Toledo, Carol attended Monac Grade School, Toledo Whitmer High School (1975), and later graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lourdes College. She spent many years working in the financial services industry in Toledo and most recently at Nationwide in Columbus, Ohio. Her generosity and concern for clients and colleagues was evidenced by many long lasting friendships.
She was committed to her church and the relationships she made through Bible Study. This kept her centered and strong in her faith. She had a reputation wherever she went for her generosity and kindness that made the Ulrich house a popular place for neighborhood kids to hang out. She was a supportive sports mom, rarely missing a soccer, hockey or baseball game. Carol cherished family vacations and trips, whether it was going to the lake, the beach, skiing, or traveling to visit family.
Carol will be remembered for being a great mother, wife, sister, and friend. She received incredible support from her many friends, colleagues, and family members throughout her illness. Our family would like to recognize the kind and committed caregivers from the James Cancer Center.
The Ceremony to celebrate Carol’s life will be held in May, at a time and location to be determined. The family will communicate details at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carol’s memory to a charity of your choice.
Mom, we will miss your love, wit, laughter, and smile.
