Clarice Maxine Shumaker

August 7, 1930 ~ October 20, 2019 (age 89)


Clarice Maxine (Petey) Shumaker (Leach) went peacefully to be with the Lord in Columbus, OH on October 20th, 2019 at the age of 89 after a brief illness.   She was a beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Neighbor and Friend.  She was born in Waverly, Ohio August 7, 1930, grew up in Chillicothe, OH and later resided in Columbus Ohio.


Preceded in death by her father Verneal Leach and mother Hazel (Thompson) Leach and sister Hildreth (Bill). all of Chillicothe, OH.


Survived by sons Charles Lonewolf and Rick Shumaker (Mary); daughter Michele Shumaker; brother Everett (Buck) Leach (Betty) Bossier City, LA and sister Dionne Vargo (Richard), Leesburg, FL: Grandchildren Kristina Patch (Jason), Katie Adams (Brian), Cameron Shumaker; Brady Gutierrez (Tawny), Chelsey Gutierrez (DJ Vasquez), Quanah Powaukee, Onkima Twigg – Lonewolf,  Tsatoke Lonewolf, Dalarie Peters, Tonchee Lonewolf, Charles Lonewolf Jr, Delos Lonewolf, Keshena Lonewolf, Tylene Lonewolf-Nucero, Remy Lonewolf,  Koytah Lee Lonewolf, Audrey Keezer, Brandon Williams, Andrew Reed, Eugene Hunter and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.


She was a member of Xenos Christian Fellowship and participated in the women’s bible study known as the Panera Ladies’ Group.  She loved spending time with family and friends.  She was an avid reader, a lover of antiques, traveling and nature. She also loved to garden and did so almost up until her passing.  She never met a stranger and had a warm and generous personality.  Her strong work ethic as well as her outgoing personality was well known to all she came in contact with during her working years at the Chillicothe and Columbus phone companies, OSU Hospital and several local dental offices.

A Celebration of Life l is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday November 16 at 625 Providence Avenue, Columbus, OH 43214. (The Lodge at Olentangy the Condominium).  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favorite charity.
