Jack Dawson 'Paps' 'Redman', 83 of Columbus, Ohio passed away Oct. 7, 2018. He was born May 28, 1935 in Crum, W.VA. to George and Jessie Raines Dawson. A graduate of the class of 1953 from Crum High School, he was the middle son of the family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Calhoun Dawson, as well as three brothers, Charles Wallace Dawson, James Franklin Dawson, and Ralph Leon Dawson, two sisters, Mary Carroll Reinhart, and Phyllis Ann “Dolly” Dawson. He is survived by one daughter, Cindy Carol Huffman (Rodney), two grandsons, Tyler Jackson and Lucas McCain Huffman, one brother, Lowell Herbert Dawson of Crum, W.VA, sister-in-law Ima Jean Dawson, niece Jennifer (Kleeman), nephews, Chuck, R.L, Jeff, John, Bobby (Dawson), and long-time companion, Florene Damron. Jack served faithfully in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He retired from Columbus Coated Fabrics. He was a member of the VFW post 1598 and the American Legion post 465, and a 61-year member of Jewel Lodge #140 AF & AM of Crum, West Virginia. He loved to work cross word puzzles. He was a fantastic cook and he looked forward to cooking special meals for his daughter, Cindy, Rodney, and grandsons. Because he spent better than two years in Germany as a soldier, he became very proficient in the German language. Viewing will be at Shaw-Davis, Short North Chapel, 34 W 2nd Ave. Cols, OH from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, with a Masonic service at 7pm and a VFW service at 7:30pm. Where his funeral service will also be on Friday at 11a.m. Interment will directly follow at Union Cemetery with full military honors. Special thank you to the staff of Kobacker House.
