Jim Henson was quoted as saying once "As children, we all live in a world of imagination, of fantasy, and for some of us that world of make-believe continues into adulthood."
Alexandra was the "some" he spoke of.
Nearly every photo we have taken of her, are pictures of her actively loving her nieces and nephews. She was the fun auntie, who always brought her flair for the whimsical side of life, appreciation of art, adoration of Jim Henson productions, and love of books to share with the children in her life.
Aunt ‘Anay’ sang them ditties, shanties and ballads from her Rennie life. In one of the last telephone conversations she had, she laughed because her sister-in-law told her about one of her nephews singing an ode to his penis. So fitting that the child that had his pirate era at age 3 should make his aunt laugh because of his bawdy musical schtick. She was a Rennie through and through, who spent many seasons at the Ohio Renaissance Festival, for work and leisure. Thanks to revelry in the colorful world of garments, performance and friendship- Renaissance Faire was one of her most natural elements.
There was never a tiara she didn't need to stop and examine, then try on, and frequently purchase for later uses. Her collection was quote vast, and packed for a trip to Chicago in 2022- specifically to share with her sisters and niece, so they could enjoy the new Musical "Six" in proper attire.
Her devoted husband Sam shared a colorful life bursting with all things nerdy and fun. Gaming, conventions, the Faire, LARP and more. Their home was a collective of games, books, trinkets, antiques, costumes, garb and cozy clutter.
Alexandra had a passion for art, history, garb, thrifting for the thrill of the unknown treasures, and voracious reading.
She was a dedicated nurse who followed in her mother’s footsteps and cared deeply for her patients.
Alexandra is at peace after a two year battle with cancer, who defied the bleaker odds given to her.
She is survived by her husband, Sam Schardt; father and stepmother, Alan and Susie; siblings Ethan (Paige), Abigail (Tomo), and Efrem (Gretchen); nieces Emily, Isabel, Rain, Cordelia, and Natalie; nephews Xander, Cooper, Kainan, Fletcher, Ari, and Ed.
We love you so much, Alexandra, and you will be missed.
