It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Brice E. Baker, who left us on July 9, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio.
Brice was born in Zanesville, Ohio, to Lee and Helen (Schonauer) Baker on December 1, 1951. Brice enjoyed a long career in the trucking industry as an owner-operator, as well as a longtime employee of Able Transit and Shaffer Trucking.
Brice will be remembered for his warm heart, sense of humor, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. He had a passion for automotive repair, dirt track racing, bowling, playing euchre, singing karaoke, and anything related to trucking. Whether he was turning a wrench, cheering at the track, or gathered around the card table, Brice’s laughter and stories brought people together and left lasting memories.
Brice is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia; his sister, Ruth (Gene) Mason; his brother, Rocky Baker; his children, Mike Baker, Michelle (Mickey) Baker, and Patrick (Christina) Watts; his grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, and Morgan Norris; Mike and Kimberly Baker; Baylon, Aliyah, and Aniston Watts; and three great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his extended family, including Cynthia’s sisters and brothers: Deb (Stan) Turnbull, Howard (Patty) Watts, Kate Watts, John (Sandy) Wysong, and Bobbie (Ray) Cowen; as well as his beloved fur-baby, Angel.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lee and Helen (Schonauer) Baker; his father- and mother-in-law, Howard and Patricia Watts; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Baker; and his sister-in-law, Sharon Traylor.
A graveside service will take place at Newark Memorial Gardens, 4244 Marion Rd NE, Newark, OH 43055, on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with a celebration of life to follow at The American Legion, 85 S 6th St, Newark, OH 43055, beginning at 4:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring and remembering Brice’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Ohio State University Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital in his memory.
Though Brice is no longer physically with us, his love, laughter, and spirit will live on in our hearts forever — while this is not goodbye, it is simply until we meet again.
