Candius Jean Reed Compton

Candius Jean Reed, age 45, passed away in the comfort of her home on Friday, April 10th, 2026. She was born on December 26th, 1980, in Columbus, Ohio. She lived in Columbus for half of her life. For the last decade of her life, she lived in Newark, Ohio. Candius worked at the CVS Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician for 20 years. The last 4 years of her life, she worked from the comfort of her home, which she was very fond of. Her greatest pride in life was her three kids, Eddie, Rose, and Lily. She loved her dog Buckeye like one of her own. She and him shared many naps together. In her free time, she just wanted to spend it with her kids. Anyone who knew her would describe her as carefree, witty, selfless, and kind. Candius lived for her children, never for herself. She made everyone around her feel loved and truly seen. She was the person in your life who gave you the strength to go on; she was just a beautiful, bright light who always kept you warm and safe, no matter what. She had the greatest sense of humor, and her laugh was contagious. The first thing you noticed besides her pure heart was her beautiful, long, curly red hair and blue eyes. She will forever be remembered, loved, and missed. Candius was preceded in death by her mother, Iva B. Chilcote. She is survived by her father, Ex-husband Christopher Compton, son Eddie Compton, daughters Rose Compton and Lily Compton, sister Paula Reed, nephews Perry and Ian Jessip, and nieces Lauren and Meagan; and many other siblings, nieces, nephews, and family members. The family will have visitation on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026, at the Shaw-Davis Funeral Home, 34 W 2nd Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43215, from 5-7 pm. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, April 16th, 2026, at Union Cemetery, 3349 Olentangy River Rd. Columbus, Ohio, 43202 at 12 pm.
