Carol Butts

October 5, 1932 — May 30, 2022

Carol went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 30th at the Kemper House in Worthington, Ohio. Born October 15th, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio.

Proceeded in death by her husband of 62 years John Senior, Son Jeffrey, parents Sherman and Leatha Barlowe, brothers Donald Ramsey, and Melvin Barlowe.

She is survived by her son John Butts Jr. and daughter Laura Miller (Steve)

Grandchildren Alan, Ryan, Aimee, Kyle, Sarah, and Jacob

Great grandchild Alivia

Carol was a lifelong resident of Columbus. She graduated from North High School where she was on the drum majorette squad. She married her high school sweetheart John in 1953 and enjoyed 62 years together. She was the secretary to Butts Brother’s Builders until John retired. She also worked for the Columbus Public Schools in the lunchroom for many years.

Carol was a devoted Christian and was a lifelong member at Indianola Church of Christ, and Worthington Christian Church. She was the leader of the Jet Cadet youth group for decades where she taught children to know and love the Lord. She was a volunteer for adult and literacy program and developed many lifelong friendships.

Carol loved to fish and enjoyed many trips with her husband and family. She was an adoring grandmother and devoted her life to her grandchildren. She never missed a recital, play, or sporting event, or opportunity to chauffeur them to school, practice, or doctor’s appointments. Carol loved bluegrass music and was able to play multiple musical instruments. She enjoyed cooking for everyone and was always providing meals for family and friends. Carol had a love for animals, especially dogs. She was always babysitting and spoiling a family dog.

Carol will be missed by family and friends. Even in her last days, her love, kindness, and deep Christian faith touched everyone, especially her caring staff at the Kemper House.

A celebration service of Carol’s life will be announced at another date. Private Burial at Union Cemetery.
