Carol Lynn Block (Stevens) Volpi, age 74, died on Sunday August 14, at Kobacker House. Carol was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to David and Phyllis (Lindquist) Block. She received her RN BSN degree from Otterbein University and was a dedicated nurse for over 50 years, having worked in the ICU and as a hospice nurse.
Carol was known for her sense of humor and the great love she showed to her family and friends. She was the loving wife of John Volpi for the past 21 years. She was the steadfast mother to Michael and Steve (Anne) Grobben and step-mother to Rita and Jack Volpi. She was utterly devoted to her grandkids Sybille (partner Brendon Rice), Kelsie and Cameron Grobben. She was loved dearly by her many friends, including her best friend/sister of 50 years Charlotte (Cornelius) Kaars as well as Donna and Tina Lovejoy, and Jean Harrison. When she wasn’t making others laugh or helping to heal others, Carol enjoyed travel, camping, cooking, and petting all the dogs, including the ones she volunteered with at the dog shelter.
Carol is survived by her husband John, son Steve, sister Charlotte and step-mother Marci Block. She was preceded in death by her parents David and Phyllis, son Michael, her two brothers Larry and Ron, and nephew Jason.
A celebration of life will be held at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home August 27th from 11am to 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kobacker House, American Cancer Society and/or the American Red Cross.
