Carolyn Elizabeth Conway, age 88, of Columbus and Cleveland passed away peacefully September 22, 2015.  She was born July 17, 1928 in Kenton, Ohio to Florence and Frank Klapp.  Carol graduated from Tiffin High School and attended both Denison University and Heidelberg University where she studied speech therapy.  Following college, Carol moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she worked at Lakewood City Schools.   She married James J. Conway in 1957.  They were happily married for 46 years until he passed in October of 2011.  Carol treasured her relationships with family and friends, spending time with them, celebrating them, and was involved in many social clubs with her friends.   She was an active member of the Cleveland Garden Club, Forest Hills Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed and was an active member in the Arts including the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, Playhouse and Cleveland Museum of Arts.   She loved entertaining, cooking, decorating and gardening, and arguably one of her favorite things was time spent with her grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband James J. Conway, her brother Frank Klapp Jr., and her brother-in-law Neil Conway.   She is survived by her brother Kit and Margie Klapp, sister-in-law Helen (Conway) English, sister-in-law Monica Conway, sons Mark and Scott, daughter-in-law Michele, grandchildren Miranda and Nolan.  The family held a private burial service.  A celebration of Carol’s life will held at a later date for family and friends.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol’s memory to support Holden Arboretum, 9500 Sperry Road, Kirtland, OH  44094 or on-line at  www.holdenarb.org.  When visiting Holden’s website, click on Join & Support, Donate, Make a Tribute Gift, or please contact Alicia Soss directly at 440 620-3848.
