Carrie Marie Butler-Walton, age 49, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on January 31, 2026, at OSU Hospital as a result of brain death following a tragic house fire.

Carrie was born on May 28, 1976, in Columbus, Ohio. She was the beloved daughter of Rebecca Walton-Bell and William Walton. Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, including her mother Rebecca Walton-Bell, who also passed in the same house fire, her father William Walton who passed in 2008, and her sister, Nicky Walton.

Carrie was a proud and devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her five children, listed in order from oldest to youngest: Darriel Walton, Darnell Butler, Dontel Butler, Kevin Rivers Jr., and Kaylee Butler. She also leaves behind twelve cherished grandchildren: Quordell Butler, DeVonte Walton, Harmony Butler, Aalayah Butler, Za’Niyah Walton, Sarenity Fells, Sariyah Fells, Kevin Rivers III, Kayden Rivers, My-Layah Rivers, Ma-Leigha Rivers, Kasen Rivers, and Jayliegh Harris.

She is also survived by her brother, William Walton.

Carrie had a deep love for painting and crafting and found her greatest joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was known for her vibrant spirit — a true firecracker — wild, bright, intelligent, strong, and undeniably beautiful. Carrie lived boldly, loved fiercely, and left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew her.
