Catherine Lynn Kulp-Goodman

July 5, 1969 — September 29, 2023

Catherine “Cathy” Kulp-Goodman Lange of Whitehall, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the age of 54. Cathy was preceded in death by her first love, Chaz Goodman, whom she married in Gatlinburg, TN in 1993 and lived happily with him until his passing in February 2009. She was also preceded in death by her father and mother, Charles and Mary Kulp of Columbus, Ohio, and her sweet nephew, Aiden Kulp.

To describe Cathy in three words would be to say she put her all into her faith, her family, and sports. She was a true believer in the salvation of Christ and knew that she would one day meet the Heavenly Father who saved her soul. She shared that faith with those she met, and in doing so, also helped her first husband Chaz to be saved before his passing. Her favorite quote from the Bible was Romans 8:18: “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later”, which she learned and lived through after the passing of Chaz. Cathy also led by Christ’s example of loving all people regardless of their past choices and instead focused on who they were as a person. She often took in her children’s friends and showed kindness to everyone she met. Cathy was heavily involved in her family with both her children and grandchildren. She loved fishing, crocheting, and doing crafts with them, creating new paintings and art, and always made sure to have fun and make the best of all situations. Cathy had a love of high school athletics and youth sports. She spent her days and weekends actively involved in her kids and grandkids' sports activities, as well as officiating for the city of Columbus. She had a passion for softball so strong that she chose to have her second wedding on home plate at a local softball diamond with her current husband, Bruce Lange, whom she married in 2022.

Cathy is survived by her 5 beautiful children and grandchildren: Michael (Tammy) Kulp – McKenna, Owen, and Caleb Kulp; Angie (Joshua) Deschaine – Aubrie, Brody, and Colin Deschaine; Elizabeth (Corey) Goodman – Raelynn Ford; Maxwell (Angel) Goodman; Brittany Goodman. Cathy is also survived by her husband Bruce Lange; brothers Charlie (Beth) Kulp and James Kulp, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and loved ones both through family and friends.

A church service in honor of Cathy will be held on Thursday, October 5th at 12 p.m. at Discovery Church in Gahanna, Ohio by Pastor Philip Bassham with funeral services provided by Shaw-Davis Funeral Home. Reception to immediately follow the service. A private interment will take place with immediate family only, and she will be laid to rest with her first husband, Chaz, at Glen Rest Memorial Estate in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fishen with a Mission to support Cathy’s love of spreading the word of God, teaching others how to fish, and feeding those in need.
