Charles Randall Hansgen, 49, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away on October 20, 2026.

Charles was a hardworking man who spent much of his life dedicated to providing for his family. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed watching sports, spending time with his loved ones, and most of all, being around his grandchildren.

Anyone who knew Charles knew he was quite the prankster. He loved joking around, picking on the people he loved, and making everyone laugh. He had a nickname for just about everybody and never missed an opportunity to give someone a hard time. Beneath all the jokes was a man who loved his family deeply and showed that love in his own special way.

One of his greatest joys in life was being a papaw. Whether it was attending sporting events, celebrating birthdays and holidays, or simply spending time together, he loved being involved in his grandchildren's lives. He also had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his beloved dog and best buddy, Luca, who was never just a pet, but a true companion and friend.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Kristina Hansgen; his children, Johnathan, Kendra, and Tyler; his grandchildren, Arrianna, Rylee, Ashton, and Hadlee; his mother, Danita Hansgen Cave; his father, Joie Cave; and his brother, Jason Smith.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Lions Club in Springfield, Ohio. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of a man who brought so much laughter and love to those around him.

Charles will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his sense of humor, the nicknames he gave, and above all, the love he had for his family. His memory will live on through the countless stories, laughs, and moments shared with those who loved him.
