Charles (“Chuck”) Louis Murphy, 77, of Charleston, SC passed away on December 26, 2022 in Columbus, OH. He was born in Cincinnati on February 15, 1945 and graduated from Oak Hills High School. He served in the Navy for 4 years and graduated from The Ohio State University. Chuck retired after 35 years from Frigidaire/Electrolux. He lived in Cincinnati, OH, Patuxent River Naval Air Station (MD), Westerville, OH, Pittsburgh, PA, London, OH, New Bern, NC, and Charleston SC. Chuck was an avid reader; he would read the newspaper every day and had a wide interest in books. He loved animals and was a founding board member of the Madison County (Ohio) Humane Society and adopted many cats and dogs over his lifetime, including his favorites Shar and Shadow. Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family and golfing, fishing, and watching sports – most of all the Buckeyes football team.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 53 years, Constance Byrd Murphy, his daughters, Katie Russell of Columbus, OH, and Carrie Murphy of Charleston, SC, his grandsons, Jacob Russell and Nathan Russell, his nephews, Brian Murphy, Doug Murphy and Jeff Murphy, and his niece, Libby Rupp. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Myrtle Murphy, his brother Paul Terry Murphy, and his sister Lynn Murphy.
