Charles Alexander Thivener

February 24, 1967 — January 29, 2026

Charles Alexander Thivener, of Ashville, Ohio, passed away on January 29th, 2026 at the age of 58 with family by his side. His life radiated loyalty, strength, and devotion to those he cherished, leaving behind a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.

Above all, Charles was a family man. He fiercely and unwaveringly loved his family, proud of the lives and relationships they built. Among the most meaningful relationships in his life were the close bonds he shared with his sister Patty and his mother, Fern, the three of them sharing the sign of Pisces. Their relationships were marked by love, loyalty, and an enduring connection. His son, Justin and niece, Stacy also had a remarkably tender and caring presence in his life.

Work was very important to Charles. He was a fixer and problem solver. His natural inclination to understand the inner workings of anything broken or malfunctioning impressed and benefited those around him. His observational skills and meticulous attention to detail shined in the tasks he carried out. Always personable, considerate and left no stones unturned, he always made sure that even the most difficult jobs were done right.

He had a lifelong love of football, especially for The Ohio State Buckeyes. Since his young adulthood, he built an extensive collection of OSU memorabilia. Each piece told a story, marked a season, or captured a moment he wanted to keep close. Whether it was family, tradition, or the teams he followed with pride, Charles understood that memories are worth keeping. His legacy lives on through the promises he kept, the memories he preserved, and the care with which his family honors him.

He is predeceased by his father, Charles Junior Thivener, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

Charles is survived by his mother, Fern; his children, Justin and Billie; the mother of his children, Daphne; his grandchildren, Alex, Grace, and Brandon; and his daughter-in-law, Jamie. He also leaves behind his siblings, Vicki, Dwayne, Marty, Lisa, and Patty; his niece, Stacy; and his nephews, Shawn, Chris, Chad, and B.J., along with many other family members, coworkers and friends.

In accordance with his wishes, no service will be held. Donations in Charles’s memory can be made to Shaw-Davis Funeral Home.
