Charles Jeffrey Weisent

WEISENT, CHARLES J (Chip), age 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous year-long journey with Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer on July 24, 2026.

Born August 17, 1957, to Janet O’Neil and Charles O Weisent, Chip spent most of his life in Clintonville—a community he cherished deeply. He attended Our Lady of Peace and graduated from Watterson High School.

Chip was an avid OSU basketball and football fan, often filling fall and spring afternoons with spirited conversations about the games and the team's future success. He found joy in golf and tennis, and rarely missed a PGA tournament on TV. Chip was known for his subtle but wonderful sense of humor and fondness for music. Chip especially treasured family cruises—creating memories that are dear, with or without pictures.

Chip was dedicated to his community, coaching many youth basketball and soccer teams with patience and enthusiasm. He played a key role in founding and nurturing the Whetstone Recreation Center youth soccer leagues, helping them grow into the vibrant programs they are today. Chip also gave his time to planning and fundraising for the Center’s renovation, supported Indian Springs Elementary School PTA projects, and cherished his time scouting with his sons.

Chip is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Holly (Conn), and their sons, Connor (Jodi) and Tyler (Donna). He is also survived by his sisters, Joy (Mike) and Judy; his nieces, Abbey (Bill) and Jenna (John); nephew Chad; great-nieces and nephews; and a wide circle of cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Donna and John Conn, brother-in-law John Dean Conn, and several cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the HomeReach Hospice Team and the OhioHealth Hospice House (Kobacker), as well as to all the family members and friends whose prayers and support brought comfort during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Clintonville location of Shaw-Davis Funeral Home, 4341 North High St, Columbus, OH 43214.

In lieu of flowers, you may honor Chip with a memorial contribution to OhioHealth Hospice and OhioHealth Hospice House.
