Cherie Faith Thompson, 91, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Wesley Glen Assisted Living Facility on April 16, 2026. A woman devoted to home and family, Cherie made certain the family gathered on holidays for a feast and time together and she ensured that everyone felt loved and included.
Cherie was born in Pomeroy, Ohio to Paul and Henrietta (Davis) Archer in 1934. After a brief time living in Ravenna, Ohio, the family moved to Columbus where Cherie attended Linden McKinley High School and later married Charles Hiser. They soon moved to Westerville where they lived for many years.
In 1983, Cherie married Bill Thompson and moved to Columbus. There they lovingly blended their children into one family. Cherie is survived by her biological children Mark Hiser (Charles Caldwell) and Jodi Coffield (Jim); stepchildren Pamela Vansky (Terry), Karen Morris, and Laurie Hegedus (Bob); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who knew her as "Nana" and Bill as "Bucky". She is now reunited with her beloved husband who passed away four months earlier on December 17, 2025. She was also preceded in death by her parents and son, Craig Hiser.
Following Cherie’s wishes, the family will not be holding a formal funeral service but will later gather to celebrate her life and inter her ashes at Riverside Cemetery next to her parents and Bill. In honor of her memory, the family would encourage you to spend time in a garden, plant some flowers, read a book, and celebrate family in whatever form it thrives.
