Christina Louise (Ellis) Albarran-Canas
Christina Louise, 36, of Columbus, Ohio passed away November 15, 2022, of a fentanyl overdose after a 10-year battle with addiction.
Christina is survived by her children, Dominic Herrera, Reina Padilla, Alondra Albarran-Canas; mother Jodi (Roy Hanna) Schneider; stepfather Jason Jones; brother Jake Jones; and sisters Heather Castle and Mikalea Ellis. She is also survived by numerous relatives from her “California side”, friends from childhood, and new friends that are recovering members of the Columbus area.
Christina grew up in Hilliard, Ohio, and graduated from Hilliard Darby High School. Her children will remember her as their fun-loving mom, who didn’t believe in bedtimes, and would let them stay up late for family movie time with pizza and Coca-Cola. Tina’s mom will remember her as the smart, funny, outgoing, and always-late-to-everything kind of kid that she could never stay mad at for very long.
Remaining silent on the opioid epidemic facing our friends and our families would mean Tina died in vain. We must all speak our truth and if Tina’s story can save one life, it will be a story worth telling over and over again. We must acknowledge the suffering of the addict, the agony of those that love them, and support those that are there to help them. The family asks that you support the ongoing efforts of the Columbus Police Narcotics Unit, RREACT, and Base Camp Recovery Centers and continue to spread awareness of this epidemic, not only on the south side of Columbus, but throughout our city and communities.
A celebration of Tina’s life will be held every year on March 28.
