Claudette Wilson, age 78, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at her daughter Julie’s home, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on June 12, 1947, in Zag, Kentucky, to Mattie and H.B. Cox.
Claudette was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. She was the proud and loving mother of her only child, Julie, the cherished mother-in-law of Andy—affectionately known as her “favorite son-in-law”—and the adoring grandmother of Cale and Camden, who were truly the light of her life.
She graduated from Germantown High School in 1966 and went on to dedicate more than three decades of service working in the dietary department at Middletown Hospital from 1970 until her retirement in 2003. Later, she continued serving her community as a crossing guard at Taylor Road Elementary School in Reynoldsburg, greeting children with care and watchful kindness from 2008 to 2012.
Claudette enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—going out to eat with family and friends, reading, playing hidden-object games on the computer, and taking walks when the weather was just right. Holidays often included her famously competitive Monopoly games with her grandsons, played with enthusiasm and laughter.
She is survived by her beloved brother Roger Cox (Katherine) of Carlisle, Ohio; siblings Danny Cox of Germantown, Ohio, Terry Cox of Springfield, Ohio, Eddie Cox of Clayton, Ohio, and Jeannie (Jeff) Robinson of St. Paris, Ohio; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the supportive and much-loved Lindsey and Estep families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie and H.B. Cox; brothers Jeff, Howard, and Bobby Cox; and sisters Connie Hicks and Mary Watts.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Nurses Heather, Missy, Lisa, and Sarah, and to Aides Rolanna and Shardae of Luminary Hospice, for the compassion and care shown to Claudette in her final days.
Claudette will be cremated, and a memorial service will be planned at a later date.
