Clifford Lawrence Adams

Clifford Adams, 86, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on August 2, 2026.

Clifford was a private, reserved, and stoic man whose quiet strength was matched only by his generous heart. Though he often preferred a simple life away from the spotlight, those who knew him understood his kindness, loyalty, and willingness to help others whenever he could.

Born on March 7, 1940, at University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, Clifford was the son of Curtis Adams and Lillian Freeman Adams. He graduated from East High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Joining the Air Force in 1963, he worked in cryptology and cyber operations and was honorably discharged in 1967. He worked for the United States Post Office until his retirement. 

Clifford found great joy outdoors, especially near the water. An accomplished fisherman, he won several awards for his impressive catches throughout the years. He also possessed a remarkable green thumb and enjoyed tending to his gardens. He was also an enthusiast of vintage automobiles and took pride in admiring and preserving classic cars.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Adams and Lillian Freeman Adams; his brother, Larry Adams; and his daughter, Bobby Bonner.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Lois Adams; his sons, Denny Adams and Dana Harris; his stepchildren, Tamara Cornelius, Victor Straughter, and Dionna Gaskins; and his siblings, Andrea Adams, Curtis Adams, James Sullinger, Jesse Allen, Ronald Allen, Jackie Allen, and Dale McCampbell. He is also survived by many grandchildren as well as numerous extended family members and friends who will deeply miss his presence.

Though Clifford lived a quiet life, his legacy is reflected in the lessons he taught, and the memories he created with those closest to him. He will be remembered for his strength, humility, and generosity.
