With profound sadness and a heavy heart, we announce the death of our beloved father, grandfather and husband. He passed away peacefully at 90 years old.
He is survived by his soulmate and loving wife, Lan-Anh Thi Nguyen; seven children: Thao Anh Huynh, Thu (Anna) Anh Huynh, Thu’ Anh Huynh, Thy (Grace) Anh Huynh Yagi, Thang Anh Huynh, Thoa Anh Huynh Van Eman, Thong Anh Huynh; and eight grandchildren, Julie Tran, Robert Tran, Peter Tran, Christian Carranza, Joshua Yagi, Koyuki Yagi, Eden Van Eman, and Veronica Van Eman.
In Vietnam, as the eldest son, from a young age he dutifully helped his widowed mother raise four children. From 1954 to 1958 he served as a registered military nurse for the Republic of South Vietnam’s Army. From 1958 – 1975 he served as Foreign Service Diplomat for the Embassy of South Vietnam and as the First Secretary and Senior Special Assistant to the Ambassador for the Middle East region. As part of his foreign mission he traveled to 36 countries, such as Ankara, Turkey, Amman, Jordan, Damascus, Syria, Tehran, Iran, Beirut, Lebanon, Bern, Switzerland, Bonn, Germany, Paris, France, Rome, Italy, Athens, Greece, Tokyo, Japan, Bombay and New Delhi, India, Karachi and Islamabad, Pakistan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Bangkok, Thailand, and Manila, Philippines. After the Fall of Saigon, from 1975 to 1982, he planned arduously for his family’s escape from Vietnam to America on a small boat under unimaginable conditions for ten days in the Pacific Ocean.
He successfully arrived in America in March 1983. He loved America to the point he legally changed his first name to Clinton and only purchased American brand cars. From 1984 to 2010, he worked at Southwestern Ohio Steel, Inc. until his retirement. Despite all his life’s achievements and hardships, his most treasured role was as a loving, gentle, doting, kind, generous, and humble (sometimes tough) husband and grandfather.
