Emblem

Dan Louis McComb, 80, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Danbury Senior Living in Westerville, Ohio.

He was born on March 12, 1945, in Lorraine, OH, and was the fifth child of the late Dain and Verla (Orr) McComb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Linda Ann (Eaton) McComb and his brother Larry McComb.

Dan is survived by his sons Aaron (Hilary) McComb and Jason McComb, daughter Alexis (Bryan) Steffee, grandchildren Aric Brandell, Autumn McComb, Ian McComb, Alaina McComb, Timothy Steffee, and Elisheva Steffee, and his siblings Vivian Westerfelt, Harry McComb, Ronald McComb, George McComb, Melvin McComb, Diane Houston and John McComb, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Those who knew Dan knew him as a quiet, kind and honest man whose love for his family was paralleled by his love and devotion to his wife. For 60 years of marriage, the two were rarely apart, from Denver to his military deployment in Okinawa to Ohio to Pennsylvania and back to Ohio. He enjoyed two careers, first in accounting and then in insurance, before retiring near his hometown in Newark, Ohio. They made their final home complete with his workshop for woodworking and collecting auction items and her studio for artwork, two separate interests that they could enjoy while close to one another.

Dan found joy diving deep into the Bible, engaging in worship and singing various hymns. As his speech failed him, he enjoyed listening to others as they would sing to him. The memory of the twinkle in his eye and soft smile will forever be a blessing to his children and those who knew him. The many nurses, assistants and chaplains from Danbury Senior Living and Gentiva Hospice have expressed their sorrow over the loss of Dan to his children, showing just how much of an impact a man of few words had on others.

The cremation has been handled with care by the Shaw-Davis Funeral Home.

Calling hours will be held on February 7th, 2026, from 2:00-4:00pm at Grace Fellowship Church, 3600 N. Waggoner Rd., Blacklick, OH.
