Dana Veigh Depew

Dana Veigh (Pearson) Depew, a resident of Columbus, Ohio for 44 years, died peacefully in Springfield, Ohio Friday afternoon, March 17, 2023, surrounded by her children. Dana was born May 9, 1933 in Mena, Arkansas to Frank and Dixie (Billingsley) Pearson. She graduated from Western Illinois University in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in English. Dana worked for the Canton Daily ledger in Canton, Illinois and had her own radio show for a time. She met George M Depew, the editor of the paper, in 1958 while teaching English and journalism at the Washington, Illinois high school. They were wed on June 15, 1958 in Macomb, Illinois and were married for 55 years. Dana held a variety of teaching jobs, but her true avocation was writing poetry, for which she won several awards, and published a collection of her favorite pieces. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Dana loved holidays and playing Scrabble. She was a member of Worthington Christian Church.
