Daniel William “Dan” Goronzy, 81, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on October 15, 2026.
Born March 31, 1945, in Medina, Ohio, to Margaret and Fred Goronzy, Dan grew up as one of five children. He attended Blue Mountain Academy, earned his bachelor's degree from Washington Adventist University, and went on to receive his master's degree from The George Washington University.
Dan made his home for many years in Kettering, Ohio, where he built a long and distinguished career as an executive at Kettering Medical Center. He took pride in the institution and in the people he worked alongside, and he gave the better part of his working life to helping it serve the community. In later years he lived in Dublin, Ohio, before settling in Columbus.
Dan was a curious man who read widely and liked to understand how things worked. He took pleasure in simple things — a good book, the birds at his feeder, working in the yard, and watching a Buckeyes game on a fall Saturday.
He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Spencer (Rob); his grandsons, Catesby and Everett; his brother, Herb Goronzy (Marilyn); his nieces, Tamy Cotta, Cindy McCaughan (Michael) and Cheryl Zwart (Hans); her son Chad and grandson Oliver.
He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Fred Goronzy and by his siblings, Margaret Dudley ”Peggy” (Roger), Ruth Kopp (Richard), and Fred Goronzy Jr.
The family is deeply grateful to Cheryl Zwart for her love and care for her Uncle Danny in his final years.
At Dan's request, no services will be held.
