Daniel Ray Hulse, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on October 1, 2026 at age 74. He was born March 26, 1952.
Dan was an avid (sometimes crazy) fan of the Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Cincinnati Reds, and rarely missed watching a game. He enjoyed a good air show and often grabbed his favorite fast-food meal to sit at the airport and watch the planes takeoff and land. He loved to support his son's Special Olympics teams, play golf with his brother, brag about his grandson, and provoke his daughter into arguments just to "get a rise out of her" and make her laugh.
Dan was a simple guy that loved to make people smile and drop off small gifts. He was thoughtful and quick to brighten a day with some sweet treats or game day Buckeye necklaces.
He often reminisced about friends and family members who had passed before him. He had a long list of people to see again and plenty of golf left to play when he got to heaven.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents Maynard and Martha, and his sister, Doris. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon, and Jon, who remained a cherished part of the family; son, Noah; grandson, Colten; sister, Ellen; brother, Dave (Laura); and his former wife, Donna, who always held a very special place in his heart, as well as many extended family members and friends.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to West Licking Special Olympics, PO Box 11, Pataskala, Ohio 43062.
