Daniel Quiñones Rodríguez

Daniel Quiñones Rodríguez, 65, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on March 2, 2026, at Grant Medical Center following unexpected complications from surgery. Born on July 21, 1960, in Caracas, Venezuela, Daniel was a man who built a life defined by hard work, kindness, and an extraordinary sense of humor.

He is survived by his mother, María Esperanza Rodríguez (Caracas, VEN); his brother, José Quiñones (Columbus, OH); his sisters, María Morales (Mérida, VEN), Zuly Quiñones (Caracas, VEN), and Yurancy Quiñones (Caracas, VEN); his brother-in-law, Luis Guillén (Caracas, VEN); and his nieces in the United States (2), his nieces in Venezuela (5), and his nephews in Venezuela (7), along with many great nieces and great nephews—including one named in his honor. He was preceded in death by his father, José Quiñones Dávila (VEN); and his siblings, Nancy Morales (VEN) and Gilberto Morales (VEN).

To call Daniel a friend was to be truly blessed. As an immigrant in Columbus, he provided housing, guidance, and suggested job opportunities to those starting over. He never forgot his roots, consistently sending support back to his family and friends in Venezuela. If he saw a need and had the means to help, he did so without hesitation, always willing to share whatever he had.

His professional life was marked by dedication. After a decade at Viaza Airlines in Venezuela, he spent over 20 years at Darden Restaurants (Olive Garden), where he received numerous local and regional awards. Most recently, he worked for Ryder, where his achievements were recognized just a month before his passing.

An animal lover at heart, Daniel cared for everything from birds and cats to lizards and squirrels. He enjoyed basketball and horseback riding, but he was true master at pool, ready to challenge anyone with a confident smile.

Daniel’s greatest gift, however, was his wit. He was a prankster who lived for a good laugh. His family will never forget the time he introduced them to his "perfect girlfriend"—a stunning brunette who, according to him, treated him like a king. After days of the family celebrating his new romance, Daniel finally revealed the truth with a mischievous glint in his eye: his "perfect woman" was actually a life-sized cardboard cutout from a Modelo beer advertisement. That was Daniel—able to find beauty and joy in the simplest things, teaching us that life, even in difficult times, deserves a good dose of humor.

Daniel’s light shone through the generosity of his actions and the simplicity of his soul. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by helping a co-worker, friend, neighbor, or stranger in need.

Le sobreviven su madre, María Esperanza Rodríguez (Caracas, VEN); su hermano José Quiñones (Columbus, OH); sus hermanas María Morales (Mérida, VEN), Zuly Quiñones (Caracas, VEN) y Yurancy Quiñones (Caracas, VEN); su cuñado Luis Guillén (Caracas, VEN); y sus sobrinas en Estados Unidos (2), sus sobrinas en Venezuela (5) y sus sobrinos en Venezuela (7), además de muchos sobrinos nietos y sobrinas bisnietas, destacando a un sobrino nombrado en su honor. Se reúne ahora en la paz del Señor con quienes le precedieron en la muerte: su padre, José Quiñones Dávila (VEN); su hermana Nancy Morales (VEN) y su hermano Gilberto Morales (VEN).

Daniel poseía una riqueza que no se mide en bienes, sino en amistades. Quien podía llamarlo "amigo" se sabía bendecido. Fue un faro para quienes llegaban a Estados Unidos, ofreciendo refugio, orientación y empleo a los recién llegados, sin olvidar jamás sus raíces en Venezuela, hacia donde enviaba ayuda constante. Su filosofía era simple: si veía una necesidad y tenía los medios, ayudaba. Siempre compartía lo que tenía, por poco que fuera.

Su trayectoria profesional fue ejemplar. Tras 10 años en Viasa Airlines en Venezuela, dedicó más de dos décadas a Darden Restaurants (Olive Garden), cosechando múltiples reconocimientos regionales. Recientemente, su ética de trabajo fue premiada en Ryder apenas un mes antes de su partida.

Daniel era un alma sensible que encontraba alegría en sus mascotas —desde peces y aves hasta ardillas— y en deportes como el baloncesto y la equitación. Pero donde realmente brillaba era en el billar, donde su destreza era legendaria.

Sin embargo, su mayor legado fue su risa. Daniel vivía para hacer sonreír a los demás. Imposible olvidar cuando presentó a su familia una foto de su "novia perfecta", una morena preciosa que lo atendía como a un rey. Tras días de celebración familiar, Daniel reveló con una mirada traviesa la verdad: su adorada acompañante era un recorte publicitario de cartón de la cerveza Modelo. Ese era Daniel: capaz de transformar un cartón publicitario en una lección de alegría contagiosa e ingenio sin límites.

La luz de Daniel no residía en sus palabras, sino en la nobleza de sus acciones y la sencillez de su alma. En su honor, en lugar de flores, la familia agradece que brinden ayuda a un compañero, vecino o desconocido que lo necesite, tal como él lo habría hecho.
