Deirdre Ann Pifer

Mar 24, 1961 — Oct 15, 2026

Deirdre Ann Pifer, wise beyond her 65 years, peacefully passed away on October 15, 2026, after bravely facing a long illness.

Born in Adel, Georgia, she was the beloved daughter of James and Mary Sineath (Burnett). She is survived by her devoted mother, Mary, who was a constant presence in her life, providing strength and love. Deirdre and Mary genuinely both loved and liked each other and Mary felt lucky to be her Mom and that Deirdre chose her to be her best of friend. They shared everything with each other.

Deirdre was a cherished wife and soulmate to her husband, Chris, whose souls first touched in childhood and whose fate brought them together again on a marina dock in FL and soon thereafter they shared a wonderful 35 years of marriage and are destined to find each other again. She was also a devoted mother to Chelsea and Christopher and predeceased by father James and son Christopher.

A proud alumni of Wolfson High School who also attended Jacksonville Junior College and Jacksonville University, Deirdre held a diverse career, excelling in numerous roles throughout her life. Her passion for creativity and the arts led her to become an active member of organizations such as the Scribble Sisters, Urban Sketchers, the Ohio Pastel Artist League, and the Whetstone Community Orchestra.

Deirdre's hobbies were as varied as her memberships, ranging from drawing and painting to hiking, running, and baking. Her artistic talents were matched by her adventurous spirit, as she frequently explored the beauty of the great outdoors. She was an alumni of MIT and also shared her love for nature and adventure as the founder of the Fleet Feet Hiking Club.

Deirdre's journey in life was marked by an insatiable curiosity, an ability to do whatever she put her mind to and a deep love for the people around her. Even as her health declined, she always wanted to know what was happening in the lives of those she loved. Her ability to connect with others and her genuine interest in their stories were hallmarks of her compassionate nature.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who cared for Deirdre in her final year, particularly Dr. Kourlas whose compassion and dedication were invaluable.

Deirdre's warmth, kindness, and zest for life touched the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched throughout her journey.

In celebration of Deirdre’s life the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to the Public Library, National Parks, Franklin Park Conservatory, or the Columbus Museum of Art.

A casual gathering of friends and family will be held at Shaw-Davis, 4341 N High St. Columbus, OH, on Friday October 23, 2026 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm.

Lake Hope retreat Spring 2027 to continue celebrating Deirdre, details to follow in coming months.
