Dennis B. Hauenstein

Jun 19, 1950 — Jul 21, 2026

Dennis B Hauenstein, 76, of Columbus, Ohio, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on July 21, 2026. He was born in 1950 in Massillon, Ohio to Donald and Mary (Andrichs) Hauenstein, Sr.

Dennis graduated from The Ohio State University and had a fulfilling career first in accounting and then facilities management. Dennis came from an industrious family and carried that practical, hands-on spirit throughout his life. He enjoyed learning how things worked and taking on projects, whether they involved technology, plumbing, home repairs, or another problem that called for patience and persistence. An active member of several prayer groups at Grace Polaris Church, Dennis had a deep faith in God.

Family was his first priority and he played a significant role in raising eight children. He would drop everything to help others and showed love through acts of service to those around him. His love of animals was second only to his family. Over the years he cared for dozens of pets and spent countless hours bird watching and enjoying time in nature.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Donald, Jr and John; and his sisters Sharon (Harwig) and Carol Ann. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jennifer; children, Nathan, Sally, and Jennifer "Annie"; stepchildren Michael Murtha, Mary Kate (Joshua) Hunt, Colleen (Ben) Scarbro, Kristine (Alen Mlatisuma) Powers, Erin (Marc) Stitt; and 9 grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on August 1, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 am with a memorial service and luncheon immediately following at Christian Community Church, 5586 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mid-Ohio Food Collective to honor his desire to serve the local community and help those in need (www.mofc.org).
