Donna Tall

Donna Lee Tall (nee Swickard), age 86, of Clintonville, passed away on September 14, 2021 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born the eldest of four children on November 1, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio to parents Roy J. Swickard and Mary Ruth McBee.

Donna and her siblings spent several years of their childhood in the Hannah Neil Mission (Columbus, Ohio) and then in her teen years she lived at the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Home (Xenia, Ohio) where Donna graduated from High School.

Donna spent most of her adult life working in the hospitality industry and considered herself an unofficial expert cake-taster for the many events she catered. She literally worked up until 2021 and was part of the Marriott West Family for over 25+ years.

She lived in Columbus most of her life and spent winters in their home in Bradenton, Florida with her husband Jasper W Tall (deceased). She loved to camp with her adult children and grandchildren, go to the zoo, shop and travel with her family as often as she could, playing board games and she was a big fan of Kroger.

She is preceded in death by her parents Roy J. Swickard and Mary Ruth McBee, husband Jasper William Tall, sister Norma Ankrom, brother Roy J Swickard Jr., stepchild Juli Tall, and nephews Tracy Ankrom and Roy Swickard III.

Donna is survived by her children Donald E. (Cathy) Nairn, Gary F. (Marla) Schmidt, Eric A. Schmidt, and Dalene (Chris) Pivetta, stepchildren Jasper William Tall III, Mary Adams, Tracy Tall, and Tammy McGinn, grandchildren Dana Schmidt, Jen (Aaron) Nairn Berarducci, Braden Hale, Erin (Colton) Schmidt Stock, Macey (Troy) Hale Winkler, Charlie Schmidt, Cole Schmidt, Kris (Stephanie) Adams, Kolene Adams, and Patti (Derek) Chatman, great-grandchildren Devyn Schmidt (her BFF), Hadley Winkler, and Everly Winkler, sister Janet Engle, sister-in-law Virginia Swickard, nieces and nephews Mike Ankrom, Ann Hunt, Jeanette Cox, Roy Ankrom, Troy Swickard, Shelly Redford, Brent Swickard, Wendy Mainwaring, and Marilyn Ankrom, as well as many beloved friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, September 19th, 2021 from 2-5 pm in the Main Ballroom at the Courtyard by Marriott, 2350 Westbelt Dr, Columbus OH 43228.
