Donna Maddox Tanner was born October 19, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is proceeded in her transition to paradise by her adored parents Leila K. Hawkins and Melvin B. Hawkins. She departed for eternal rest on December 22, 2014.
Confessing her belief in Christ at an early age, she joined the Morning Star Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. J.C. Wynn, who baptized her in 1962. Growing up Donna sang first in the Rosebud Choir, then in the Junior Choir, and eventually the Youth Choir. As an adult she professed her love for Christ and wished, encouraged and prayed for all to come to come to know Him as well.
She was a proud Graduate of Woodward High School.
Those who knew Donna had no choice but to come to appreciate her feisty nature and sometimes untimely truths. She was very personable and expressed both interest and concern for everyone she came into contact with...particularly the kids. She would help anyone in any way that she could. If you were her friend, your problems were indeed, her problems.
She was an exceptional cook who over the past few years developed a passion for baking. She loved the Holidays and cherished the opportunity to spend them with family. She stayed involved in the lives of our young family members, taking on their concerns, sharing her life experiences and even opening the doors of her home if necessary.
She Leaves to cherish her memory her one and only most loved son, Brian (Trina LaShell), her adored granddaughter Ambrea, her grandson Patrick, step-grandson Malik, one brother Eric Hawkins, a host of nieces and nephews that she loved and cared for, and 2 great-grand kids. She also leaves a devoted God-Son Rawlin, and her devoted, loving and providing friend of 30 plus years Eugene Shearer.
Funeral service & burial will be held at Union Cemetery 3349 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio 43202 Sat. Dec. 27 in Chapel A.
Visitation will be held from 10-11am with a Funeral service & burial immediately after. Repast following: 4953 Mc Allister Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43227
