Dorothy Mae Helen Byrdsong, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025. She was 90 years old.
Born on January 5, 1935, in Villa Rica, Georgia, Dorothy was the cherished daughter of Will and Annie Byrdsong. She was a woman of great strength, wisdom, and grace whose presence brought warmth and comfort to everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Ella Mae McCullough, Harvey Byrdsong, Ernest Byrdsong, Billy Byrdsong, and Linda Goolsby.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children: Steven (Debra) Byrdsong, Tina (Ben) Mamphey, and Timothy Parnell. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Timothy Clark (deceased), Mary Lou (Robert) Clark, Timothy Beaty, Melkeisha Cooper, Brittany (Zachary) Dickerson, and Teavon (Antwon) Cooper. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren and extended family who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Though not biological nephews, Dorothy lovingly embraced Rod (Liveriza) Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Todd Peterson, and Mark (Sharell) Peterson as her own, as well as great nephews and a great niece. She played a guiding, nurturing role in their lives, and they remained devoted to her throughout the years.
A special note of gratitude is extended to Teyawnna Jones, a dear family friend, and Todd Peterson who lovingly cared for Dorothy until the end. Todd & Teyawnna’s devotion and compassion brought Dorothy comfort and peace in her final days.
Dorothy’s life was marked by deep love for her family, enduring faith, and a quiet strength that touched countless lives. She will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, and the joy she brought to those around her.
