Dr. Attila Zoltán Nagy

May 15, 1971 — Jun 23, 2026

Galena, Ohio

Dr. Attila Zoltán Nagy of Galena, Ohio, passed away on June 23, 2026.

Attila was born on May 15, 1971, in Budapest, Hungary. He graduated from Jedlik Ányos High school in

Csepel, Hungary (Budapest District XXI) and moved to the United States in 1991 with the hopes of

obtaining a higher education and better life. He first worked as a live-in nanny for a Hungarian-American

family, Géza and Jean Locsey and their children Jennifer, Carly, and Géza, in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. The

Locseys became his American family.

Attila often joked that he learned English by watching “Sesame Street” with the kids and listening to Jean

talk to him. He also took free English lessons at a community center. He later worked as a patient care

associate for Mount Carmel Hospital, a role in which he took great pride, caring mainly for patients on the

cancer hospice floor. He earned his GED and began to sit in on classes at The Ohio State University

simply to improve his English language skills, and he enrolled at OSU once he felt his language skills

were sufficient. He met his wife, Michelle, in an undergraduate physics class at Ohio State in 1997, and

they were married in 2003. They had their daughter, Adriánna, in 2005 and son, Dominik, in 2009. Attila

became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2011.

Dr. Nagy earned his Bachelor of Science in entomology in 1999 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree

in 2003 from The Ohio State University. He later earned his Master of Science in specialized orthodontics

from the International Medical College in Münster, Germany. Attila and his wife, both dentists, have

owned Oakwood Dental in Bucyrus, Ohio since 2006. Dr. Nagy was an active member of the American

Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association, the Central Ohio Dental Association, and the European

Orthodontic Society. He participated in thousands of hours of orthodontic training and had a true passion

for the field of orthodontics. Through his company Nagy Orthodontic Academy, he taught other dental

professionals all over the world about orthodontics and sleep/airway management as related to dentistry.

He truly enjoyed the relationships he made with patients as well as colleagues.

Attila was an avid fitness enthusiast and boxer and held a black belt in Taekwondo. He also enjoyed

beekeeping and hobby farming and loved to walk in the woods and parks near his home with his family

and his dog, Ernie. He enjoyed working out as well as helping others to achieve their fitness goals. He

was equally passionate about teaching, mentoring, and helping others in his professional community in

dentistry and orthodontics.

Attila is survived by his mother, Márta Szabó of Szolnok, Hungary; his wife, Michelle Cortney (Ulrich)

Nagy; their children, Adriánna Márta Nagy, 20, and Dominik Miklós Nagy, 17; and beloved dog, Ernie,

all of Galena, Ohio. He is also survived by his parents-in-law, Fred and Sharon Ulrich, of Westerville,

Ohio; brother-in-law Philip (Erin) Ulrich and three nephews of Galena, Ohio; and his brother in-law

Dániel Ötvös and two nieces of London, England. He was preceded in death by his sister, Zsuzsanna

Vidra, and stepfather, Tibor Vidra.
