Edith Lynn Brandon

Aug 5, 1934 — Sep 25, 2026

Edith Lynn Gentry Brandon, known lovingly as Edie, was born on August 5, 1934, in Franklin, Kentucky, and entered into eternal rest in heaven from natural causes on September 25, 2026, in Dublin, Ohio. She was a woman of Christian faith, steadfast in spirit and gracious in manner, whose life was marked by courage, strength and a warm devotion to family, service, and the Lord.

Edie was born during the Great Depression in the slower rhythm and small-town grace of Franklin, Kentucky where the seeds of her character were sown. She carried the virtues of an adventurous heart, a spirited nature, and a courageous will throughout her life. These gifts were evident in every season of her life, whether she was learning, working, serving, or simply sharing her presence with those she loved. She was a woman who met life with resolve and tenderness. Edie was a devoted Christian whose faith was not merely spoken but lived out in the way she loved, served, and encouraged those around her. She believed in the power of prayer, the truth of Scripture, and the hope found in God’s promises. Her life reflected a quiet strength and a deep trust in the Lord.

Her calling into nursing reflected both her intelligence and compassion. She studied nursing at Kentucky Baptist Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, and later received her BSN from St. Joseph’s College in Maine. In the noble work of healthcare, she found a vocation that matched her gifts. She began her career in Louisville, where, by God’s providence, she met the love of her life, Charles “Dave” Brandon. Their meeting was a blessing that shaped the rest of her life, and the love they shared stood as a testimony to devotion, companionship, and enduring grace.

Throughout her nursing career, Edie served with skill and heart in many settings. Her first nursing roles were in the emergency room in Louisville. Early on, she cared for children as a pediatric nurse, bringing comfort and reassurance to their families. Later, while employed by Iowa Beef in Amarillo, Texas, she served as an industrial nurse, offering practical care and frequent triage. She transitioned to public health nursing in Cincinnati, Ohio, extending her compassion to the broader, underserved community. She concluded her professional life operating a health clinic at the IRS in Covington, Kentucky for 17 years. She was known for the competence and quiet strength she brought to her work.

Edie’s life was filled with fellowship and service beyond her career. She played the piano and she owned and played a cherished pedal organ throughout her life. Her children and grand children loved to pump the pedals of the antique instrument. She enjoyed traveling, especially when it meant visiting family members, since she treasured the time spent with those she loved. She participated faithfully in women’s Bible studies for many years and found companionship and challenging conversation in her neighborhood book club. Her service at Highland Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky, was another example of her devotion, as she helped the church select and purchase its pipe organ. She was an active member of Anderson Hills Church in Cincinnati for forty years and continued to watch services on-line after she moved into Assisted Living in Dublin, Ohio in 2024. She was trained as a Stephen Minister in Cincinnati and served in that sacred role for many years, offering comfort and Christlike care to others in their times of need.

Her faith went beyond words and was lived out in her daily witness. Edie lived as a Christian woman whose life reflected trust in God’s providence and hope in His promises. In her gentle perseverance and willingness to serve, she embodied the spirit of one who believed that love conquers all. As Jesus said in John 13:35, “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples”. Edie’s life demonstrated that truth as she lived in loving relationship with others, and her presence made many lives richer and more complete.

Edie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles “Dave” Brandon, whose memory always remained dear to her heart; her brother David Gentry and many other relatives. Together Edie and Dave shared a life built on love, commitment, and faith. She is survived by her brother William Gentry and sister-in-law Becky Gentry (wife of David Gentry). She is also survived by her daughter, Deborah Brandon Trahan, and her husband, Gabe; her former son-in-law William R (Trey) Mustian III, and by her son, Richard (Rich) Brandon, and his wife, Beth. She also leaves behind a cherished legacy in her grandchildren, Michael (Mike) Mustian and his wife, Courtney, James (Jim) Mustian, Elizabeth (Liz) Fabregas, John Brandon and his wife, Elizabeth, David Brandon, and Andrew Brandon and his wife, Elizabeth. Edie was blessed to know her seven great grandchildren: Declan Mustian, Finnegan Mustian, Ellison Mustian, Brody Fabregas, Jaxon Fabregas, Jameson Brandon and Alice Brandon. Her family was a source of great joy to her, and she treasured each relationship.

While her earthly voice is now quiet, the memory of her life remains. Her family, friends, church community, “Brookdale family” and all who knew her will remember her as a woman of uncommon grace, whose adventurous spirit, courageous heart, and spirited nature were matched by her tenderness and faith.

Now, having completed her pilgrimage on earth, Edie rests in the peace of heaven with her Savior Jesus Christ. Her days with us were a gift, and her memory will endure as a light to those who loved her. May she be remembered with gratitude, and may those who mourn take comfort in the hope of eternal life in Christ, where sorrow is ended and joy is made full.
