Elaine Plumb

        Elaine Wharton Plumb was born May 15, 1927 in Mount Vernon, Ohio and grew up in Knox County, Ohio. She attended Ohio State University and was employed by Nationwide Insurance. While at Nationwide, Elaine met her husband of 56 years, Charles S. Plumb II.

        Elaine found and shared joy with others everywhere she lived: Columbus, Ohio; Toledo, Ohio; McLean, Virginia and Venice, Florida. In closing the circle, she peacefully passed away on May 5, 2026 in Columbus, where she had lived since 2023.

        Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Charles and her sister Maxine Wharton Lorey.

        Elaine was incredibly grounded. Her humor, strength and loving nature will be sorely missed by son Charles S. Plumb III (Kathleen) of Tulsa, daughter Amy Plumb Sharpe (Bob) of Columbus, three grandchildren: Claire Sharpe of Hong Kong, Joe Plumb (Kristin) of Houston, Nora Plumb Coultis (John) of Kansas City, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering to celebrate her invaluable influence on all of us will be held later this Summer.

        A life well-lived is an understatement.
