Flora died extremely peacefully on September 10, 2026 at Columbus Alzheimer Care Center. Her CACC and Suncrest Hospice teams achieved perfection in her comfort care.
Flora was born Flora Rubin in Cleveland, Ohio to Celia Kaplan Rubin and Nathan Rubin. She was very close with her older brother Hermie Rubin.
Flora was elevated to the Major Work program at school for very bright children. At Cleveland's Glenville High School, her peers elected her to be Football Queen because she was a very cute "people person." Flora continued to be described this way for the rest of her life.
In 1950 Flora married Stanley Goldberg who died in 1980. In 1969, Flora was trained by the Cleveland Clinic to be Stanley's home dialysis technician which allowed Stanley to achieve a rarely available kidney machine. Flora was very proud of the movie that the Cleveland Clinic made about her life-saving role.
Flora is survived by three children, Gary, Hollie and Robert "Bobby" Goldberg, all in Columbus. Her other survivors are daughter in law, Alyse Goldberg in Columbus and Joshua Goldberg and Katie Mullins, grandchildren of Lexington, Ohio. Many cousins and friends also survive Flora in Columbus, Miami and Cleveland.
Flora loved to read following two 30 year book clubs and even with very advanced dementia she amazed everyone as she continued to read books and even name badges until just recently.
Flora loved her dogs, especially Sloopy and also truly enjoyed cooking for family and friends.
In memory of Flora, please read something, pet a dog and enjoy a little bite to eat.
