George Henry, 69, of Columbus, formerly of Martins Ferry, passed away on October 5, 2025, surrounded by family. Born January 22, 1956, in Martins Ferry, he excelled in football, basketball, and track in high school, earning recognition as one of the top wide receivers in the Ohio Valley his senior year. He proudly wore #21 in honor of his hero, Roberto Clemente.
He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Pirates, Ohio State Buckeyes, and his hometown team, the Martins Ferry Purple Riders. George met his wife at Capital University and spent over 46 years in finance, serving eight companies with generosity, perseverance, and humility.
His greatest professional pride came during his years with Mental Health America of Ohio, where he was known for his saying, “I help the people, who help the people.” He lived those words every day through his genuine love for others, embodying patience, kindness, and a spirit of servitude. George's calming presence and unwavering grit made him a beloved teammate, colleague, acquaintance, and family member who always put others before himself with sincere compassion and unconditional kindness.
