Gerald Lawrence Greer Age: 76 Born: February 25, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio Died: June 15, 2023, in Columbus, Ohio Memorial: June 26, 2023, 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Shaw-Davis Funeral Home, 32 W. 2nd Avenue, Columbus, Ohio Jerry was born February 25, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Melvin L. and Geraldine M. (Eckhoff) Greer and grew up in northeast Columbus. An Army veteran, he received great satisfaction while working in physical therapy at the Martin Army Hospital, Fort Benning, Georgia. He was later employed by the City of Columbus, Division of Water until his retirement. Jerry enjoyed motorcycles and traveling, and volunteered with many organizations. While volunteering with Ohio Invasive Plants Council, he was the first ever OIPC Award of Distinction recipient. Protected areas that have benefited from Jerry’s efforts include the Heritage Garden and the Governor’s residence. Preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Louella Riley. Jerry is survived by his son Jason L. Yearling and step-children: Don Riley, David Riley, Pam Lynch, Linda Shelts, and Christine Riley.
