Our beloved Mom, Sister, Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend Geraldine McKenna, age 79, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Grant Hospital. She was born on December 15, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio, to Bertha and Willie Demmings.
Geraldine was a devout Jehovah's Witness for 48 years, beginning her faithful service in Dayton, OH. In 1996, she moved to Columbus, where she continued to serve faithfully and wholeheartedly in her congregation.
She was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Bertha Demmings, and her sisters, Carolyn Edwards and Lutisha Pinson.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted children: Joi Maxey, Gilbert (Nuemi) Maxey, Jr., and Nicole McKenna; her loving sister JoAnne Hayden; and her precious grandchildren: Elena Maxey, Emilio Maxey, Pilar Maxey, Cierra McKenna, DaShawn Benson, Jr., Naomi McKenna, and Victory McKenna.
She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Nastacia Reyes, Carmelo Jones, and Damien Benson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A special acknowledgement is extended to her niece Lisa (Martin) Tabler for being a true gift to our family-assisting with her care and needs (and bringing her snacks, lol)-and for the love and support she gave. Mom was deeply appreciative.
We are also thankful to our dear friend of the family Brian Hopkinson for the devotion and care he provided over the years.
Special thanks to Angela and Donald Martin for their devoted care and compassionate and finally to her Home Health Aide, "Loretta", who cared for our mom with such kindness and support.
We wish to express our sincere gratitude to the Worthington Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for their calls, visits, and assistance provided to our mother both before and after her passing. Your love and support have truly comforted our family.
A Memorial of Life Service will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. 2650 W. Dublin-Grandville Rd., Columbus, OH 43225.
