Geter Blakley Gist

We mourn the loss of Geter Gist, a beloved member of Newark, OH, who peacefully passed away on July 25th 2023. Geter was born November 24, 1968, to his loving parents, Carl and Mildred Lewis Gist. His departure leaves a void in the lives of all who had the privilege to know him.

Geter was an extraordinary individual who brought joy and inspiration to all his acquaintances. His warm smile, infectious laughter and compassionate nature were his trademarks. Family and friends will fondly remember his genuine concern for others and the countless acts of kindness he performed throughout his life.

Geter had numerous hobbies and interests. He loved to travel and explore new places whenever he had the chance. He enjoyed being around family for cookouts and all family gatherings. He loved to meet new people and would carry on a conversation with anyone willing. He cared about his loved ones in a way like no other. Geter was a people pleaser and loved to make everyone happy. He loved to laugh and reminisce about old times. His smile was infectious and his laugh was infectious enough to make everyone around him smile. He had a deep passion of making memories with everyone.. But above all, Geter was a devoted family man, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones. He adored his family and made it a point to create lasting memories together.

Geter's impact on the lives he touched will forever be cherished. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, integrity, and the love that will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps. He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, extended family and all those who were blessed to have known him.

Geter Gist is survived by his significant other April Hankins, Children: Tyler Fickle, Andy (Autumn) Nash, Jordan Nash, Kayla (David Root), Sisters: Michelle Burton, Clentona Gist, Brother: William Gist, Nieces, Nephews and many grandchildren. He is preceded in death by, Mother Mildred Lewis-Gist, Father Carl Gist SR, Brother Carl Gist Jr. and other family and friends.
