Gilda DelTedesco (Bateman)

Gilda DelTedesco (Bateman), 71, passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Gilda was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 23, 1955, to Joseph and Dorothy DelTedesco

Gilda was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Dorothy; her daughter, Amy; and her brothers, Joseph and Patrick.

She leaves behind her lifelong partner Charles (Chuck) Bateman; her children, Joseph, Robert, and Kellie (Christina); her stepchildren, Jessica (Tim) and Michael; her sister, Theresa; her grandchildren, Robert, Vincent (Kayla), and Nicholas; her great-grandchildren, Dominic, Salem, and Nova; her step-grandchildren, Jacob, Cameron, Michael Jr, Michelle, Layla, Jordin, and Ezekiel; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and loved ones. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Abby and cat Fergie.

For 41 years, Gilda and her devoted partner, Chuck built a life filled with love, memories, and the many experiences that come from sharing more than four decades side by side.

Gilda's greatest joy was her family. She was a loving mother to her children and step-children. She was a proud and loving Nonna to her grandchildren, and Biz Nonna to her great-grandchildren. She endured the profound loss of her youngest daughter, Amy, whose memory remained forever a part of her heart.

Gilda had a special love for animals and was a devoted—and fanatical—Ohio State football fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her beloved Buckeyes.

Her Italian heritage held a special place in her heart and was often expressed through her love of cooking. Gilda loved preparing Italian meals for her family, sharing recipes, and passing those traditions on to others. She often said her food was “made with love,” and for those fortunate enough to share her kitchen and her table, it truly was. The meals she prepared, the recipes she shared, and the time spent together in the kitchen will remain treasured family memories.

Her strength was shown not by having a perfect life but by continuing to stand tall through the hardest moments. She taught her children the meaning of perseverance, unconditional love, and never giving up. She will be remembered for the love she gave, the sacrifices she made, and the strength she carried within her.

Above all, Gilda treasured time spent with those she loved. Whether gathered around the table for an Italian meal, cheering on the Buckeyes, celebrating a special occasion, or simply enjoying one another's company, family was at the heart of her life.

Those who knew and loved Gilda will remember her in countless ways—in a favorite Italian recipe passed from one generation to the next, in the excitement of an Ohio State football game, in the companionship she found with her animals, and most of all, in the time she shared with her family. The love she gave, the traditions she passed on, and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

Though she may no longer be here to hold her children, her love will remain in their hearts forever.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 280 North Grant Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43215. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Gilda's life.
