Jack Richard Ward (1943-2025) was born August 8, 1943 in his grandmother’s house in Wellston, Ohio. He passed away on July 20, 2025 after a long illness, leaving his family saddened.

He was a loving father to four children, Robyn Messer (Mike), Deidra Ward (Walt Tucker), Christopher Ward, Laura McDonley (Timothy). He cherished his grandchildren, Rachael Messer, Kyle (Anahi) Messer, Eric (KateLynn) Messer, Daniel Imber, Nicholas Imber, Patrick (Sunna) Imber, Ezra McDonley, and great grandchildren, Tommy Imber and Wolfgang Messer. He was husband to the love of his life, Penny Ward for 47 years.

He was an Air Force veteran, retired Columbus Police officer, and retired bailiff at the Franklin County Probate Court. Jack loved shopping at thrift stores, antiquing, spending time at the beach, making people laugh, and helping people in need.

He was preceded in death by Mary Conley (mother), William Ward (father), Lynn Ward (brother), and Valerie Moberly (sister). He is survived by his sisters, Connie Rowe, Nancy Ward (Smiley) and many nieces and nephews. He was loved by family, neighbors, and friends and will be sorely missed. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 1, 2025 4:30 pm -7:15 pm at the Pinnacle Community Center to 1710 Harbour Mist Dr, Grove City, OH 43123. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity of your choice.
