James Charles "Jim" Ruthers, 83, passed away on July 22, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio.
Born on January 30, 1942, in Wheeling, West Virginia, Jim was the son of James C. Ruthers Sr. and Pearl Ruthers. He grew up in a time of great change and answered the call to serve his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis-a period that defined a generation with its tension and resolve.
Following his military service, Jim built a life rooted in hard work and dedication. He spent three decades as a union truck driver. A career that reflected his steadfast commitment to providing for his family and contributing to the strength of the working class. His years on the road were marked by reliability and pride in his craft.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Maggie Ruthers; his son Matt Ruthers and daughter-in-law Christie Ruthers; and his cherished grandchildren, Maddy Ruthers and Luke Ruthers. He was preceded in death by his son James P. Ruthers; his parents, James C. Ruthers Sr. and Pearl Ruthers; and his sister Virginia Ruthers.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to honor Jim's life and legacy.
