Jane Lawrence, 89, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, just days after celebrating her birthday. She was born on September 19, 1936, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and was the only child of Audrey and Clarence Boso. She spent most of her adult life in Columbus, Ohio, where she built a life centered around family and friends and her dedication to The Ohio State University. Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Lawrence, who passed away on March 1, 2012. Jane and Jerry were married on February 16, 1963, and shared nearly 47 years of marriage together.
Jane was a graduate of Bethesda School of Nursing in Cincinnati, Ohio and dedicated her entire professional career to nursing at The Ohio State University. At Ohio State, she specialized in caring for newborn infants and their mothers. Jane loved caring for the many babies she helped bring into the world, and she took great joy in sharing those stories with others. During her years at Ohio State, she formed several lifelong friendships with her colleagues, relationships she cherished deeply.
She was devoted mother and grandmother. Jane is survived by her daughter, Holly (Lawrence) Kuhlman, and her husband Bill Kuhlman; and their children, Jacob Kuhlman and Brooke (Kuhlman) Dickerson, who is married to Landon Dickerson. She is also survived by her son, Andy Lawrence and his wife, Jennifer Lawrence, and their children Lindsey Lawrence and Bennett Lawrence.
Jane was a loyal Ohio State fan and rarely missed a chance to cheer them on. She had a special love for her dogs and found great joy in their companionship. Known for her kindness and compassion for others, she took much joy in being around those she loved. She always had a sarcastic sense of humor that brought laughter to those around her. A member of Powell United Methodist Church for many years, she lived a life with quiet strength, generosity and grace.
A private burial service will be held at Union Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio, on April 17, 2026, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00am at Understory, 2571 Neil Avenue, Columbus, Ohio.
Jane will be deeply missed by her family and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
