Janice Martha Reynolds

Janice Martha Reynolds was born on August 28,1953, in Washington, D.C., to the parents of Forestine and Anna Reynolds. Peacefully, on Monday, July 6, 2026, Janice Reynolds departed this life.

At a young age, Janice accepted Christ and was baptized on September 1, 1963, at The Sharon Baptist Church, Big Island, Virginia. She joined the Meridian Hill Baptist Church (Washington, D.C.), attended Sunday School, and sang with the Junior Choir.

She loved the Lord, and throughout her life, she held fast to her faith and recognized the goodness of God and His promise of an everlasting life.Janice was a product of both the District of Columbia and Maryland school districts. Janice pursued her college studies at Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio. Being one for trying to collapse time, she was able to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in June of 1975, and then she went on to pursue her Master’s degree in Social Work.Upon completion of her course work, Janice returned to D.C. where she was fortunate enough to get employed as a Counselor at a group home for girls. However, with the closure of the group home, she made the life-changing decision to return to Ohio where she was eventually hired as a Case Worker with the Franklin County Department of Human Services (Columbus, Ohio). After thirty years of service, Janice retired but continued to work part-time jobs. Understanding the importance of work-life balance, she found time for rest and relaxation. 

During the summers, Kool Jazz festivals were a must for her. She also loved adventure, and traveling was a love; her goal was to travel to every state in these United States: A goal she accomplished! She even managed to become a world traveler: Off she went to places like the Bahamas, Italy, France, China, Vietnam, South Africa, India, Abu Dhabi, just to name a few places. She has ridden on cruise boats, jet planes, elephants, camels, Vespas, and rickshaws. She also loved going to the theater, Broadway productions, and local shows. Towards her later years, she could be found on Tuesdays watching the latest release of two or maybe even three movies. 

To be sure, Janice was a special gift to family and friends. She made everyone feel loved and treasured. Without fail, she remembered to give a phone call, send a text message and/or a beautifully calligraphed card celebrating a birthday, holiday, an anniversary or a special occasion. A life of love, service, devotion: Her life touched countless hearts, and the memories she created will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
