Jeremy Shane Skatzes, age 48, was born on May 21, 1977, and passed away on December 14, 2025. He is survived by his daughter, Kaylee Skatzes (Juan Hernandez); his stepson, Kyle Smith; his mother, Diana (Ronnie) Bender; and his siblings, Dennis (Janet) Douglas, Tecola Skatzes, and Opal (Scott) Brown. Jeremy was also a beloved uncle to a host of nieces and nephews, as well as a proud step-grandfather to two step-grandchildren.
Jeremy was born in Marion, Ohio, but spent most of his life as a resident of Columbus, Ohio. He was an active member of the Galloway Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was deeply loved by many who worshipped alongside him. Despite his growing physical limitations, Jeremy used every opportunity to share his faith with others.Jeremy’s jovial disposition was a defining part of who he was. Even as his health declined, this quality shone most brightly in the presence of the family and friends whose company he enjoyed the most. Known for his sensitivity, Jeremy felt things deeply and was never afraid to show emotion. He cried easily when his feelings were hurt—a true testament to his authenticity and emotional honesty. That sensitivity made him compassionate, relatable, and genuine in a world that often discourages such beautiful traits. Because of his ability to connect deeply with people, Jeremy was an excellent salesman, using his natural charisma to sell not just a product or service, but himself as well.Jeremy loved animals, especially his dog, Sebastian, and found great joy in their companionship. He also enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. In short, Jeremy loved life when it was good to him. He will always be remembered as a soft-hearted giant with a comedic nature and an infectious laugh. We will miss our brother, son, father, uncle, nephew, and friend deeply—until the time, in the near future, when we will once again turn toward that hearty laugh and hug him with all our might.
