Jerry Wayne Divens

Jerry Wayne “Jake” Divens was born March 8, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio, at The Ohio State University. Fittingly, he completed his journey at the same place, passing away on August 12, 2026.

Jerry was the son of the late George Divens and Alease Law. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and worked several jobs throughout his life.

To those who knew him, Jake was truly one of a kind. He loved Ohio State football, the Cleveland Browns, action movies, good times, and good company. With his great spirit, sense of humor, and undeniable charm, he was also known as quite the ladies’ man. Jake had a personality that was hard to forget.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Jaquece Marable; his son-in-law; granddaughters, Aliyyah and Aminah Marable; sisters, Janice and Jennifer Divens; and many loving nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Divens; his parents; his brother, Johnny Divens; and his nephew, Lashawn Divens.

Jake’s laughter, charm, stories, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who loved him.
