Jerry Lee Lockhart

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Lockhart, who departed this world on Sunday, May 11th, 2025.

Born on December 4th, 1973, in Columbus, Ohio, Jerry was the son of Greg Lockhart and Janice (Brown) Lockhart. Jerry was greatly loved by his sister Jennifer (Lockhart) Floyd, whom he often referred to as Refinnej, teasing her by saying her name backward!

Jerry was a loving and dedicated father to his three children Damian, Morgan, and Braxton Lockhart. He was excited to become a grandfather and was immensely looking forward to meeting his unborn grandchild.

Jerry was a hardworking, determined, and prideful man who never wavered in times of trouble but kept on keeping on despite odds or adversity. He was a planner and numbers guy who saw any problem as an opportunity to come up with a creative, out-of-the-box solution.

Jerry's favorite pastimes were fishing and monkeying around with his aquariums, often tending to his oscars, Fish and Munch. One of whom he found in the trash and took home to nurse back to health. He frequently took his children fishing at Alum Creek, passing his passion for the sport down to them. He could often be found tinkering in his garage, which he practically lived in.

He had a fierce devotion to animals of all kinds from a sick stray cat to a daddy long-leg spider that he didn't want to get stepped on. He loved his cat Bandit deeply. Once a stray, who wandered into the backyard during a cookout, Jerry let him inside believing he was a pregnant stray and didn't want to leave him outside in the cold. He fell in love with him quickly, even after he realized he had been deceived. He went on to spoil him tremendously, often buying him his favorite treats and catifying his home to appease Bandit. His children often joked that Bandit was the favorite child.

Jerry also had a deep passion for cooking both in the kitchen and on the grill. He often looked for any reason to host a cookout. Some of the best times were spent in the backyard grilling out with family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held for Jerry on Saturday, May 24th, 2025 at Alum Creek, 2266 Africa Road, from 12-4 pm. Bring a lawn chair and come celebrate Jerry's life.
