John Girgis

March 26, 1981 — October 25, 2020

John Carey Aziz Girgis, born March 26, 1981, went to be with Jesus on October 25, 2020, after a very lengthy illness.  John, the son of Dr. Carey and Sally (Bowers) Girgis died peacefully at home.  John was a long time member of Grace Polaris Church and loved drama and helping in the children’s ministry.  John was involved in the Living Christmas Trees concerts yearly at the church.  His main desire was to see others hear about Jesus and to receive Him as their Savior.

John attended Mount Vernon Nazarene College, majoring in vocal music, and went on as a student at the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute.   John loved  to cook and share his skills with others.

In addition to being survived by his parents, John leaves 3 sisters and 2 brothers:  Suzanne, Sarah, James, Nicole, and David.  The joys of his life were his niece, Tara Grace, and his nephew, Mason, whom he dearly loved.   John also leaves aunts, uncles and cousins.  John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene and Lida (Carmack) Bowers, formerly of Dover, Ohio, and Aziz and Haza Girgis, formerly of Assiut , Egypt.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Grace Polaris Children’s Ministry.

Visitation will be at Grace Polaris Church on October 31, 2020, at 10 a.m., with the service immediately following at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Custer, a long time personal friend of John’s and the entire Girgis Family.  Burial will be at Sunbury Cemetery.
