Joseph William Stoll

Jul 8, 2026 — Feb 19, 1961

Pastor Joseph William Stoll (PJ), age 65, went home to be with the Lord he faithfully served. Joe dedicated 41 years of his life to full-time ministry, shepherding others with a heart that was always turned toward people and toward Christ. Joe wore many hats over the course of his ministry and loved them all. He served as a youth pastor, a children's pastor, a worship leader, a head pastor at Barnett Road Baptist Church, and later as principal at Genoa Christian Academy. He finished his career as executive pastor at Genoa Church, where he made sure the building stayed standing and the ministries ran smoothly. Whatever needed to be done, PJ was willing to jump in and help — even if that meant driving the bus to youth camp. Joe was a graduate of The Ohio State University, where he studied music — a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. He loved to play and write music, and he poured that same creativity and joy into everything he did. Joe went on to earn a Master of Arts in Religion (MAR) from Liberty University. His love language was cooking, especially when he made his "world famous" rhubarb pie. But Joe's greatest joy was always his family. He was a wonderful husband to his wife, Marcella Stoll (for 43 years), and a phenomenal father to his daughter, Brittany Clark (husband, Matthew), and his son, J. Ryan Stoll (wife, Kerry). Joe loved being a grandpa — nothing made him happier than spending time with his grandchildren: Maura, Jack, Peter, James, Anna, Thomas, and Ruth. He soaked up every moment and was their faithful playmate. Joe is also survived by his mother, Alice (Shultz) Stoll, and his siblings, Sarah Hilty (husband, Craig), Phillip Stoll (wife, Paula), and David Stoll. He was preceded in death by his father, William Joseph Stoll. Joe had a heart for people. Whether through his music, his preaching, his caring, or his conversations, he had a way of making everyone feel the love of Jesus — and feel truly seen. His legacy is one of joy, faith, family, music, and laughter that everyone will remember.
