Joy Elisabeth Moore

Joy E. Moore, age 37, passed away August 10th, 2026, at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by the love and prayers of her cherished family. Joy was a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kind spirit and unconditional love. Joy lived up to her name in every way. Her humble smile and warm presence brought so much happiness to everyone around her.

How do we say goodbye to a young, beautiful soul like our ‘Joy Beth’? Her passing has left so many without words. Her beautiful smile had a way of making people happy just being in her presence. Her absence will be felt beyond words by her beloved family, friends, and the entire bowling community.

Joy and Jonathan were soulmates and through God’s grace, were blessed to find one another. They were dedicated to each other and were the best of friends. They were the perfect team, not just on the lanes but in life. Our hearts ache knowing that their partnership has been changed far too soon. They loved the Buckeyes, the Reds, the Blue Jackets and of course the PBA. They both loved going to the games or watching them on TV. They loved bowling together and cheering for each other. They also loved going to her Nephew’s baseball games. They did everything together and liked it that way. They built a life together with their 2 dogs, Brutus and Winston. On August 26th, they would have been married for 9 years.

Joy was passionate about her dogs. She loved them deeply and they adored her. They were always cuddled up together and fiercely loyal to Joy. They will be lost without her. She was their everything.

Joy’s passion for Bowling was unmatched. Whether she was watching Jonathan, competing herself, or doing the ball raffle on Sunday mornings at Webb’s, she loved the people, the competitive spirit, and just being surrounded by the atmosphere and sounds of the bowling alley.

Joy loved The Ohio State Buckeyes, the TV series “Friends”, Helping at Golf Outings, and Daytona Beach. That was her happy place. Toes in the sand and sitting by the shore and she and family went every year. This year was no exception and although she was very sick, wanted to go. Encouraged by her doctors, Jonathan made it happen. It’s something she looked forward to all year. Not knowing it would be her last, as a family we are so thankful she was able to feel the sand, breathe the air, and enjoy the sunshine from her chair.

But more than anything else in life, she so loved her family and friends. They were by far most precious to Joy. She had a huge family of Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, a Niece, Brothers and her beloved Grandmother. She loved each and every one of them. She enjoyed spending time with them, especially around the holidays. She loved the whole atmosphere of a full house filled with love. Christmas was her favorite time of the year.

Joy was a highly accomplished competitive bowler from the Central Ohio region, with a career spanning high school dominance, national youth tournaments, and adult scratch leagues and tournaments. Originally out of Westerville, she was an active and respected figure in the state’s bowling community.

Joy was a standout in High School and as a senior, representing Westerville South High School. She was a top-tier competitor in the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) bowling tournaments. Joy consistently advanced to elite national youth fields. She was selected as Rookie of the Year, cementing her as the top incoming female bowler on the regional scratch circuit. Bowler of the Year, identifying her as the most dominant scratch bowler in the Ohio/Michigan region. Out of an elite national field, Joy was selected to the Teen Masters National Championship team. She was a notable contender in the Teen Masters where she stacked up against future professional stars pinpoint totals.

After transitioning out of high school and youth circuits, Joy shifted her focus heavily toward adult scratch leagues, statewide open tournaments and competitive marathons across Ohio. She established herself as one of the premier, highly feared local scratch bowlers in Columbus and Central Ohio regions. Maintaining elite averages hovering in the 210-220 range.

She became a regular contender in grueling multi-game scratch formats, including the Ohio State USBC Women’s Championships and regional “Queens” events where she consistently faced off against regional professional bowlers. One of her most notable adult career milestones includes being selected to compete in the prestigious Buckeye Bowling Writers All-Star Match. This exclusive tournament pits the top-performing average bowlers in the state against one another in a showcase of Ohio’s best adult talent.

Joy remained deeply rooted in the Columbus area, utilizing her powerful, high-precision style to rack up local tournament titles and high-series awards in regional houses across Columbus. She has spent years anchoring top-tier teams in the ultra-competitive scratch and cash leagues at Wayne Webb’s. Joy has bowled 8 perfect games.

Joy was preceded in death by her grandparents James and JoAnn Arrigo, Grandfather Don “Shep” Shepherd, and Grandmothers Diana Humphry and Margaret Moore.

Joy is survived by her loving and loyal husband, Jonathan (Jay). Her parents, Rick and Donna Arrigo. Her in-laws, Lacey and Kelly Moore. Her Grandmother, Naomi Shepherd. Her Grandfather, Lacey Moore Sr. Her brothers, Dan (Kelli) Arrigo, Ben (Patti) Arrigo, and Drew (Kate) Arrigo. Brother-in-law Lacey Moore III. Nieces and Nephews, Chase (Meg), Ryan (Madi), Ava, Charlie, Miles, Maddox, Owen, Blake, William, and Joey. Many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

The family extends their heartfelt and deepest gratitude to John and Diana Coughlin, Dan and Jen Higgins, Scott Dembski, Tom and Linda Carter, and Matt & Sasha Drummer. The Central Ohio USBC, and lastly, the staff, doctors, and specialists at The James Cancer Hospital, notably Dr. Alberto Revelo, Dr. Dwight Owen and to Morgan, who always dropped everything to help when Joy called.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation, funeral service, and celebration of life lunch at The Christian Assembly Church located at 4099 Karl Rd. Columbus, Ohio 43224. The viewing will be Friday August 21st, 2026, from 6-9pm. The service on Saturday August 22nd, 2026, beginning at 10:30am followed immediately by the Celebration of life.
