Karen E Linson

October 3, 1941 — June 7, 2026

Karen Elaine Linson, beloved sister, aunt, mother in spirit, mentor and friend, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on June 7, 2026. Born on October 3, 1941, to Oscar Ray Reiber and Lenora May (Bell) Reiber, Karen lived a life defined by faith, compassion, grace and unwavering love for others.

Karen is survived by her brother, William (Linda) Reiber, and her sister, Sharon Mapes. She leaves behind a loving family of nieces and nephews: Gina (Tim) Huffman, Angela (Barry) Fowler, and Robbin Mapes. Her legacy of love continues through her great-nieces and great-nephews: Danielle Tolkendorf, Brooke (Johnny) Cropper, Austin (Abi Choman) Pennington, Logan Pennington, Seth Pennington, Lauren Perry, Cole Perry, Miranda Fowler(Alex Bell), and Elaina Fowler; her great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews: Ava (Jaydin Harmon) Tolkendorf, Vanessa Tolkendorf, Erika Tolkendorf, Gavin Tolkendorf, Klara Tolkendorf, Willow Tolkendorf, Darien Cropper, Gracelyn Cropper, Lincoln Pennington, Archer Pennington and Alice Bell; and her great-great-great-nephew, Kaydin Harmon. She is also lovingly remembered by her godson, Brodie (Andrea) Taphorn, her stepsons, Tim (Michelle) Linson, Richard (Marvie) Linson stepdaughter Linda(Mike) Rife step granddaughters Abby and Katie, and the many dear friends and colleagues whose lives were enriched by knowing her.

A devoted Lutheran Christian, Karen lived her faith not only in words but through every action. She embodied Christ’s love in a way that made everyone feel seen, valued and welcomed. She never met a stranger—only neighbors she had not yet befriended. May we forever hear her gentle encouragement: “Promise me you’ll go to church just one Sunday, my dear.”

Karen’s smile could brighten the darkest day, her eyes reflected genuine kindness, and her touch brought comfort to those in need. Her wisdom provided calm during life’s storms, and her presence offered reassurance when it was needed most. Though she never had children of her own, Karen possessed the heart of a mother. To those blessed enough to call her “Mom,” she was a source of unconditional love, guidance, and unwavering support.

Whether known as Karen, Sis, Aunt Karen, or Mom, she loved deeply and selflessly. Her kindness uplifted, her gentleness healed and her encouragement inspired others to become their best selves. She carried herself with quiet elegance, spoke with intelligence and thoughtfulness, and moved through life with dignity and grace.

Karen retired from Ernst & Young after a distinguished career as a secretary. Beyond her professional life, she dedicated countless hours to serving her community through volunteer work, especially supporting fundraising efforts for Nationwide Children’s Hospital—one of the causes closest to her heart. In her younger years, she was a cheerleader and a member of the National Honor Society, qualities that reflected the determination, strength, and spirit she carried throughout her life.

Karen’s absence leaves an immeasurable void, but her love remains woven into the hearts of all who knew her. While we grieve her passing, we find comfort in knowing that she now rests in perfect peace with her Lord. May we honor her memory by extending the same kindness, compassion, and faith that she so generously shared with the world.

Mom, we know you are looking “marvelous, darling.” As we imagine you reunited with loved ones in Heaven, we are reminded of the literary words of Edgar Allan Poe: “Isn’t it pretty to think so?”

No formal services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers or trees, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Karen’s honor.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
